This book titled: Temperature Effects on Sulphur Catalysed Dimerisation of Melon Seed Oil (MSO) is a piece of research work which exposes the industrial potentials of melon and other seed oils. The book explains the mechanism of Sulphur catalysed dimerisation as well as other possible catalysts which could be used for the process of thermal polymerization. It exposes the relationship between time and temperature of dimerisation with the physical (e.g. Molecular weight, viscosity, colour) and Chemical properties (e.g Acid value) of the thermal polymerized oil. The book also discusses the thermodynamics of dimerisation which actually illustrates the effects of temperature at every stage of the thermal polymerization with respect to the time of dimerisation. The appreciable yield of Dimer as seen in the text presents MSO as an Important primary raw material for Fatty Acid Dimer (FAD) production. This is subsequently used for reactive and nonreactive polyamides for adhesives, inks and expoxy resin production, as well as production of Alkyd Resins, synthetic lubricants etc.
