In 480 BC, a vast Persian army, led by the inimitable King Xerxes, entered the mountain pass of Thermopylae to march on Greece, intending to conquer the land with little difficulty. But the Greeks, led by King Leonidas and a small army of Spartans, took the battle to the Persians at Thermopylae and halted their advancealmost. It is one of historys most acclaimed battles, and one of civilizations greatest last stands. Renowned classical historian Paul Cartledge looks anew at this historyaltering moment and shows how its repercussions affect us even today. The invasion of Europe by Xerxes and his army redefined culture, kingdom, and class. The valiant efforts of the Greek warriors, the legendary 300 facing a huge onrushing Persian army at the narrow pass at Thermopylae, changed the way future generations would think about combat, courage, and death.

I picked up 'The Battle That Changed the World' by Thermopylae, and it did not disappoint! The way it breaks down the strategies used in the battle is both engaging and enlightening. Perfect for history buffs like me!

Not What I Expected
I was really excited for 'The Battle That Changed the World,' but it didn't quite live up to the hype for me. The cover looked great, but the content felt a bit dry at times. Maybe it's just not my style.

Good Insights, But Lacks Flow
Thermopylae's book has some brilliant insights into the battle, but I felt the writing lacked flow at times. Some sections dragged on a bit. It’s still a solid read if you can push through the slow parts!

Interesting but a Bit Dense
While I found 'The Battle That Changed the World' to be informative, the narrative felt a little dense at times. It’s a great overview of the battle, but I struggled with some of the details. Still worth a read if you're into history!
