Thirst, a collection of forty-three new poems from the Pulitzer Prize-winner Mary Oliver, introduces two new directions in the poets work. Grappling with grief at the death of her beloved partner of over forty years, she strives to experience sorrow as a path to spiritual progress, grief as part of loving and not its end. And within these pages she chronicles for the first time her discovery of faith, without abandoning the love of the physical world that has been a hallmark of her work for four decades. In three stunning long poems, Oliver explores the dimensions and tests the parameters of religious doctrine, asking of being good, for example, To what purpose? / Hope of Heaven? Not that. But to enter / the other kingdom: grace, and imagination, / and the multiple sympathies: to be as a leaf, a rose,/ a dolphin.

I bought this used copy of 'Thirst Poems' and it’s a delightful read. The pages show some wear, but the content is still profound and moving. Perfect for anyone who loves poetry and doesn't mind a bit of character!

Not in Excellent Condition
I was a bit disappointed with the used condition of this book. While the poetry itself is beautiful, the book had noticeable wrinkles and some writing in the margins. It’s okay for a casual read, but I expected better for the price.

Perfect for Poetry Lovers
I purchased this used 'Thirst Poems' book for my sister who loves poetry, and she adores it! The book has some signs of love and reading but nothing too serious. The poems are so vivid and heartfelt, they shine even through minor wear.

Lovely Poetry, But Tattered Book
The poems themselves are beautiful and resonant, but the physical condition of the book leaves something to be desired. There were several dog-eared pages and a lot of markings. If you’re looking for a pristine copy, keep looking!

Good Value if You Love Poetry
I got this book in used condition and it’s a gem! A few marks here and there, but the poems are worth every penny. I would say it’s a good find for anyone who appreciates life’s nuances captured in verse!
