About the Author Jean Van Hamme es considerado un maestro entre los guionistas de comic europeos, y ha conseguido gran fama con obras tan inolvidables como Thorgal, XIII y Largo Winch. Pero lo primero que quiso hacer no era guionizar. A principios de los sesenta, tras licenciarse en economia politica, Van Hamme empezo su carrera en marketing. Jean Van Hamme is considered a master in the field of Europes comic writers, achieving fame with such unforgettable series as Thorgal, XIII, and Largo Winch. Writing was not his original focus, however. In th early 1960s, after earning his degree in political economy, Van Hamme launched a career in marketing. At the same time, he cocreated a number of adventure series (mostly for Tintin) such as Arlequin, Domino, the genre series Epoxy (with Cuvelier) and Mr. Magellan. It wasn't until 1976 that Van Hamme gave up his marketing activities to concentrate exclusively on writing. The following year, he produced his first big hit and bestknown genre creation, the popular Thorgal series, with Rosinski. Also with Rosinski, he produced the remarkable graphic novel, Le Grand Pouvoir du Chninkel (The Chninkel's Great Power), and with Griffo, a twovolume political fiction, SOS Bonheur (SOS Happiness). In the 1980s, Van Hamme cocreated two hugely successful series, both thrillers dealing in political and international intrigues: Largo Winch (with Francq) and XIII (with William Vance). Van Hamme has also written for the cinema, including Diva (1980) for JeanJacques Beinex and Meurtres a Domicile (Murders At Home,1982) based on a novel by Thomas Owen. La brillante carrera de Grzegorz Rosinski se inicio en su Polonia natal. Se graduo en Arte en Varsovia y trabajo como ilustrador y disenador grafico. Se traslado a Belgica, donde conocio a Jean Van Hamme, y los dos se unieron para crear una de las series mas famosas de Europa: Thorgal. En 1979, Rosinski gano el premio Michaelmas al Mejor Dibujo Realista; ademas ha realizado la serie La balada de las landas perdidas con Jean Dufaux, una historia ambientada en la Irlanda medieval. Grzegorz Rosinskis brilliant career began in his native Poland. There, he earned a degree from the Academy of Art in Warsaw, and worked as an illustrator and graphic designer. Following a move to Belgium, Rosinski met Jean Van Hamme and the two joined forces to create one of the most popular comic series in Europe: Thorgal. In 1979, Rosinski won the Michaelmas Prize of Best Realistic Drawing for this series. At present, Rosinski is producing a new series with J. Dufaux entitled La Complainte des Landes Perdues, a story set in Medieval Ireland. He currently resides in Switzerland.
