Selected for the Marine Commandants Reading List when first published in hardcover, this book offers a vivid, firsthand account of Operation Desert Storm during the Gulf War. A U.S. Marine sergeant in Alpha Company of the 1st Light Armored Vehicle Battalion (LAV), Michaels provides a revealing look at what it was like to endure and prevail in ground combat at the platoon and company level. Readers are given an opportunity to look inside the battalion as it battles a savage environment and a host of tactical snafus while pushing forward at the tip of the spear to help liberate Kuwait City from the Iraqis.

I found this book didn't meet my expectations. The coverage of the Marines' light armor tactics was too brief, and it felt somewhat disorganized. I was looking for something more comprehensive. Not what I hoped for, honestly.

Insightful Read on Marine History
The ‘Light Armor in the Gulf War’ book provides a detailed perspective on U.S. Marine operations. I appreciated the vivid descriptions and analysis of tactics used during the conflict. I bought it for my father, a veteran, and he couldn't put it down!

Great Book, Minor Delivery Issues
This book is fascinating! The accounts of light armor tactics are really engaging. However, it took longer than expected to arrive, which was a bit disappointing. Still worth the wait if you're into military history.

A Must-Have for Military Enthusiasts
If you’re interested in military strategies, especially from the Gulf War, this book is a fantastic resource. The detail about the light armor used by the Marines is impressive and well-researched. I’ve learned so much from it!

Interesting, But Lacked Depth
The book had some good insights, but I felt it skimmed over a lot of key details I was hoping for. I expected more in-depth analysis of the equipment rather than just the operations. Still, it’s a decent read!
