Todo es menos es un libro de surtidas provisiones. En los libros de esta naturaleza es donde ms cosas se suelen echar en falta. En eso se parecen un poco a aquellas cantinas de pueblo de hace cuarenta aos, que hacan las veces de ultramarinos, de ferretera, de estanco, de comercio mercero, de casino y, cuando el veterinario estaba de paso por el lugar, hacan tambin de consultorio pecuario. En ellas se ola a curtidos y a vino. La estampa sola tener carcter, ver reunidas tantas cosas en una habitacin por lo general angosta, ver lo bien que estaba todo abastecido proporcionaba al conjunto un colorido matizado y acogedor: las horcas y guadaas en un rincn, bacaladas, madreas, tripas para la atanza y alpargatas de esparto colgadas de una viga, cordeles, costales de alubias, esquilones para el ganado, el mostrador de zinc, los veladores de mrmol, las estanteras con las conservas, en fin, el gnero que sola reunirse en tales establecimientos.Al entrar uno pensaba: aqu hay de todo, pero si acaso quera pedir uno algo, un tubo de aspirinas o una botella de refresco, eso no lo tenan. Pidiera uno lo que pidiera, eso no lo encontraba nunca, para desconcierto general.En TODO ES MENOS bien podra suceder algo parecido, aunque tampoco sera grave, pues al final uno termina hallando la manera de poder vivir sin necesidad de aspirinas ni de refrescos.
