Der Anspruch der Nouvelle Vague ist es, dass der Filmmusik eine spezielle Rolle im Geschehen beigemessen wird. Inwiefern dies auf die Filme Godards zutrifft, soll herausgefunden werden. Desweiteren soll untersucht werden, ob die Musik tatschlich als Mitteilungsebene, zum Beispiel von Stimmungen fungiert. Um dies herauszufinden, werden drei Filme Godards zu verschiedenen Aspekten analysiert. Zuerst wird jedoch eine theoretische Grundlage geschaffen. Hierzu wird mit einem knappen Einblick ber die Geschichte des Tonfilms begonnen. Auerdem wird Jean Luc Godard als Regisseur vorgestellt. Da er filmthematisch der Nouvelle Vague zugeschrieben wird und diese auch einen besonderen Anspruch an die ihr zugehrigen Filme stellt, wird diese nher erlutert. Durch den ersten Teil der Arbeit soll erst einmal ein grober geschichtlicher berblick und ein Basiswissen ber Jean Luc Godard geliefert werden. Im zweiten Teil werden einzelne Filme in Bezug auf unterschiedliche Aspekte der Filmmusik, beziehungsweise der Gerusche im Film analysiert. Zunchst beginnt der Teil mit einer theoretischen Grundlage ber die Funktionen und Aufgaben und die verschiedenen Kompositionstechniken von Filmmusik. Erster Untersuchungsgegenstand ist der Film Auer Atem aus dem Jahr 1960. Er gilt als einer der ersten Filme der Nouvelle Vague. Anhand des Filmes werden Funktionen und Kompositionstechniken, insbesondere das Leitmotiv verdeutlicht. Der Film der zweiten Filmanalyse ist Vorname Carmen aus dem Jahre 1983.
