La Regin de Ouro Preto es ampliamente conocida por sus depsitos de topacio imperial. En la regin existen ms de veinte yacimientos de este mineral que estn distribuidos a lo largo del eje EW del Anticlinal de Mariana, que corresponde a la porcin sureste del Cuadriltero Ferrfero, donde la nica presencia que se encuentra en el flanco norte es la del Distrito de Antnio Pereira. El rea estudiada se encuentra localizada a aproximadamente 106Km de Belo Horizonte y a 7Km al noreste de la Ciudad de Ouro Preto del Estado Minas Gerais (Brasil). En la investigacin se emplearon mtodos/tcnicas como Difractometra de rayos X, Refractometra, Microscopa electrnica de barrido (MEB), Termogravimetra y anlisis trmico diferencial simultneos, Espectroscopa de absorcin en el infrarrojo con transformada de Fourier, Microsonda electrnica, Petrografa, Geofsica (Interpretacin de datos Aerogeofsicos) y Microtermometra. Caracterizando de esta manera qumica, mineralgica y microtermomtricamente el topacio imperial de la Mina del Distrito de Antnio Pereira, adems de interpretar estructuralmente este yacimiento.
