This book presents research and development of the water process control in the automation laboratory of Technobothnia. It covers documentation, system modeling, simulation and evaluation, controller design and implementation as well as remote monitoring and control leading to e Automation. The control task is focusing on controlling the water level, using the modern high performance SIEMENS SIMATIC S7300 PLC and the world's leading Wonderware FactorySuite InTouch interactive HMI for visualization to realize fully digital PID closedloop feedback control. The proposed solution can be also applied to control other system variables as needed. Realtime remote monitoring and control via internet and GSM network are also introduced. These technologies enable operators to interact with an entire operation of their production processes worldwide. A big step towards conceptive eAutomation has been carried out in this work. The eAutomation is hopefully defined as managing process online.
