Das Werk beinhaltet sowohl den theoretischen Hintergrund und die Konzeption des Trainings als auch ausfhrliche Anweisungen zur Durchfhrung des Trainings und Trainingsmaterialien sowie Anregungen zur Evaluation des Programms. Das Training stellt eine Anwendung der Theorie der Emotionssteuerung nach Montada (1993) im Bereich der interkulturellen Kommunikation dar. Im Laufe des Programms lernen die Teilnehmer, automatische Interpretationen des Verhaltens Anderer zu hinterfragen und so einen Einfluss auf ihre eigene Gefhlswelt zu nehmen. Diesem Vorgehen liegt die Annahme zugrunde, dass erlebte Emotionen immer auch abhngig von Kausalattributionen sind, und dass Schlssel zur Interpretation von Verhalten u. a. kulturell vermittelt werden. Neben der Beschreibung des Programms liefert das Werk einen fundierten berblick ber die Literatur in den Bereichen interkulturelle Trainings sowie Emotionspsychologie und hierbei insbesondere der kognitiven Emotionspsychologie.
