Like many other third world countries, the Kenyan government, under duress from the International Monetary Fund, adopts austerity programs, instituting internal changes and external measures to create an enabling environment for transnational investment to attract capital inflow. Under such arrangements, Dominion Farm Limited (DFL), a US transnational is investing in the Yala swamp, an ecologically sensitive area and at the outset, a source of livelihood to the indigenous Luo community. This books looks at issues of contentions that are arising from this investment and how unsustainable it is prooving to be in the eyes of the local community. It also singles out some local grown suggestions from the community that will see transnational companies coexist with indigenous communities.
