Bisher vor allem von institutionellen Groinvestoren eingesetzt, werden diese Investments nun auch fr Anleger mit kleinen bis mittleren Anlagebetrgen zugnglich. Hedgefonds haben allerdings nicht den besten Ruf: Die Fonds werden oft als finanzielle Black Box" bezeichnet; Der Anleger investiert in einen Hedgefonds, kommt eventuell Jahre lang nicht an sein Geld, und am Ende der Investitionsperiode steht dann entweder ein enormer Profit oder ein Totalverlust, wobei sich weder das Eine noch das Andere erklren oder nachvollziehen lassen wrde. Ein Problem der Hedgefonds ist ihre Intransparenz. Diese liegt zum einen in teilweise komplexen Handelsstrategien begrndet, die nur ein Finanzmathematiker entschlsseln knnte. Zum anderen geben sich Hedgefonds gerne bedeckt, weil sie frchten, durch Offenlegungen sensibler Daten, einen Wissensvorsprung vor anderen Marktteilnehmern einzuben. Ein weiterer Grund fr Intransparenzen knnte darin liegen, dass die Manager nicht genau wissen, welche Daten oder Informationen die Investoren wnschen. Das Problem der fehlenden Transparenz soll in dieser Arbeit nher untersucht werden. Diese Arbeit soll Wege aufzeigen und Instrumente vorstellen, mit denen Hedgefonds fr Investoren transparent und vergleichbar werden. Fr Investoren ist die Einschtzung des Risikos ihres Investments wichtig. Nur so kann eine Investition auf ein bestehendes Portfolio abgestimmt, bzw. ein neues ausgewogenes Portfolio aufgebaut werden. Der Schwerpunkt wird auf dem Aspekt der Transparenz liegen: Ein Anleger muss die Prozesse und Risiken in einem Hedgefonds verstehen knnen und dazu muss er sie erkennen knnen. Ziel ist es, dem Investor ein Hilfsmittel an die Hand zu geben mit dem er relativ schnell das potenzielle Investment hinsichtlich der zu erwartenden Risiken einschtzen kann.
