El bruido es una operacin de acabado sencilla, de bajo coste y que genera una superficie final de gran calidad, tanto en aspectos fsicos como mecnicos. Esta tcnica es conocida desde hace ms de 30 aos, sin embargo, es en los ltimos aos cuando se ha visto incrementada su potencialidad como proceso de acabado. Esto es debido a la necesidad de evitar el empleo de esquemas tecnolgicos tradicionales como el rectificado y los tratamientos trmicos, los cuales son altamente consumidores de energa y potencialmente contaminantes del medio ambiente. En el presente trabajo, se estudian las mejoras de las caractersticas fsicomecnicas de piezas complejas y de revolucin, cuyo acabado se ha realizado mediante bruido hidrosttico por bola. Para ello, se realizan una serie de ensayos experimentales donde se puede valorar la calidad superficial conseguida por este proceso, el aumento de la dureza superficial, as como el aumento de la dureza superficial. Adems, se genera un modelo de elementos finitos del proceso, dicho modelo es til para obtener valores representativos, tanto de calidad superficial obtenida como de tensiones residuales de compresin.
