Brian L. Heuett is an Associate Professor at Southern Utah University where he has taught since 1998. Prior to that, Brian taught at Washington State University. He taught his first public speaking course at Washington State University in 1993 and has taught public speaking ever since. Brian was awarded the Distinguished Educator of the Year for 20032004 at Southern Utah University, and has won several teaching awards over several years. He has been awarded top research papers and several top four papers of the year for his scholarly work in Public Speaking Apprehension. He continues to research and develop interventions to help people over come their fears of public speaking. Most recently, he has been investigating the use of Virtual Reality Therapy to determine whether this intervention will prove of worth with regards to reducing high levels of communication apprehension among college students. Brian lives in Cedar City, Utah with his wife Lonna of 27 years. Has four children, two daughter inlaws, and one grandson, (Cannon).
