Al hablar de la escritura indgena se crea la sensacin de regresar a un tiempo pasado y a un espacio remoto. No obstante, estas distancias tanto temporales como espaciales son imaginarias o simplemente consecuencia de una ignorancia adrede. Los pueblos indgenas, su memoria y particularmente su escritura estn ms vivas en nuestra poca en contraposicin a lo que muchos imaginan. La razn por la cual las culturas indgenas parecen perderse del panorama actual tiene que ver con el obligada marginacin a la que se les ha sometido y, por tanto, al escaso protagonismo social que se les ha otorgado en la construccin de la nacin moderna. Esta investigacin propone una lectura transversal de tres grandes autores que adems de haber sido significativos en su tiempo, crearon bases slidas desde la escritura para comprender la heterogeneidad en la que se dinamiza el mundo contemporneo. Un estudio como el presente ayuda a discernir la trascendencia de la palabra escrita en la construccin de los pueblos; no obstante, seala a su vez los vacos que an se tienen sobre el desarrollo de la escritura durante la colonia y la importancia que tendran nuevas investigaciones sobre el tema.
