Throughout, he examines how Trotskys perception of events influenced his theoretical understanding of the problem, and how Trotskys theory reciprocally shaped his analysis of political developments. Additionally, Twiss notes both strengths and weaknesses of Trotskys theoretical perspective at each stage in its development.
