Prof. Merten postulierte auf dieser Tagung, dass Lgen und Tuschen bei PRPraktikern an der Tagesordnung seien. Es kam zu einem Aufschrei in der Branche und seitdem wird um die Frage debattiert, ob PR eine Lizenz zu Tuschen hat und diese de facto nutzt oder ob erfolgreiche PR das Tuschen und Lgen per definitionem in Theorie und Praxis ausschliet. Um diese Frage beantworten zu knnen, wird zuerst das Lgen generell untersucht. Im Anschluss wird das Lgen konkret auf den Kontext von PRAktivitten bezogen in diesem Zusammenhang wird auch auf den Zusammenhang von PR und Vertrauen, Image und Glaubwrdigkeit eingegangen und untersucht, in welcher Relation das Lgen und das Vertrauen zueinander stehen. Im weiteren Verlauf der Arbeit verlagert sich die Betrachtung des Lgens in der PR auf eine metaethische Ebene: welche Rolle spielt Ethik in der PR generell? Welche Arten von Ethik existieren? Welche ethischen Handlungsanleitungen bietet diese Ethik den PRAkteuren an? Welche Kodizes existieren fr die PR und was besagen sie? Die Implementierung von Kodizes inkludiert i.d.R. auch die Frage nach der Notwendigkeit eines Kontrollorganes, welches die Einhaltung der Kodizes sicherstellt. Im Zusammenhang mit der PREthik soll dies der Deutsche Rat fr Public Relations (DRPR) gewhrleisten. Wie arbeitet der DRPR und welche Wirkung haben seine Ratssprche? Entsprechen die Kodizes den Anforderungen normativer Handlungsanleitungen? Oder sind sie 'PR fr PR', wie Merten konstatiert?
