About the Author Jaffe Cohen is an award winning screenwriter, author, stand up comic, actor and educator. His screenplay Hit and Runway, which he cowrote with director Christopher Livingston, won "Best Screenplay" at the Los Angeles Independent Film Festival, Outfest, the Seattle Film Festival and the US Comedy Arts Festival in Aspen, hosted by HBO. The film was released theatrically in early 2001 by Lot 47 Films. Jaffe also has the distinction of being one of the first openly gay standup comedians on national television. His groundbreaking appearance on fox Television's "Comic Strip Live" in 1990 was followed by numerous television and radio spots. His one act play "Elliot Bound" was produced at NYU in 1980 and was later revived OffBroadway and his highly acclaimed one man show The King of Kings and I, directed by Michael Zam, opened in New York at the Courtyard Theater and has been performed in many cities across the country. His comic memoir with the same title was published by Harper Collins in 1997. Jaffe is also the coauthor of Growing Up Gay: from Left Out to Coming Out published by Hyperion. He also created and performed in a sketch comedy show called In Thru the Out Door which was broadcast on CBC in 1999. In addition, he was one of a half dozen featured performers in the film documentary We're Funny That Way shown on CBC and Cinemax. Jaffe also had speaking roles in two major Hollywood films, As Good As It Gets, directed by James L. Brooks and Hanging Up, directed by Diane Keaton. He lives in New York.
