Die Studie beschreibt Krper und Rechtsvorstellungen des Nibelungenlieds und analysiert die Geschlechterordnung des Heldenepos aus der Perspektive beider Wissensbereiche. Die Verknpfung des literarischen Textes mit medizinischen und naturphilosophischen sowie mit juristisch normativen Schriften des 12. und frhen 13. Jahrhunderts zeigt, wie das Nibelungenlied zeitgenssisches Wissen aufgreift und verndert. Ausgehend von den verschiedenen Wissensgebieten werden die Geschlechterverhltnisse der imaginierten Welt untersucht und Ergebnisse der Geschlechterforschung zum Nibelungenlied revidiert.
