Este trabajo parte de la propuesta de "Metforas de la mente" de Robert Sternberg. Dentro del debate que argumenta a favor y en contra de la nocin de clase natural, se elabor una propuesta epistemolgica pluralista que defiende la existencia de ms de una naturaleza de la inteligencia como clase relevante. Esta nocin permite reflejar la dependencia que hay entre el uso de una clasificacin (y/o concepcin sobre la inteligencia humana) y las teoras o prcticas cientficas (y/o perspectivas) que definen los intereses que van a permitir delimitar los diferentes agrupamientos en un momento dado con un fin explicativo. El objetivo principal de esta representacin es destacar que puede haber ms de una clase o definicin de inteligencia vlida, que cada una de estas clases puede coexistir sincrnicamente y que, no slo son dependientes de una teora cientfica y ciertas propiedades estructurales, sino tambin de otros intereses sociales e institucionales involucrados.
