La observacin de la naturaleza es el punto de partida de este anlisis de la escultura tradicional de la cultura oriental y de la cultura occidental. La tradicin escultrica y artstica de ambas culturas favorece un arte que refleja la naturaleza particular de ellas, y desde este punto de vista tiene una serie de caractersticas comunes, independientes de las diferencias culturales propias de ambas civilizaciones. Con esta investigacin se ha pretendido indagar ms a fondo en las similitudes formales y conceptuales, que los artistas tradicionales han desarrollado en sus obras, y cmo estas similitudes son testigo de que la naturaleza humana en su conjunto esta ntimamente conectada a pesar de las distintas religiones, polticas, geografa, cultura, etc. Por todo ello, la idea que cimienta toda este estudio es la de que estas culturas confluyen en unas races comunes, que estn en su base y que las hace estar ms trabadas de lo que aparentemente revelan, y adems determinadas por una actividad esencial que es la observacin de la naturaleza, esta ha constituido una forma de encarar la actividad artstica que definir lo que se llama el arte tradicional.
