Mise au jour, aussi, de l'volution et de l'ambivalence des sentiments d'une fille envers sa mre : amour et haine, culpabilit, tendresse et agacement, attachement viscral et muet pour la vieille femme diminue. Dans La place, l'autrice voquait son pre. Les deux rcits se recoupent, se compltent, mais l'clairage change, ici plus charnel et contrast.
