Seit vielen Jahren, ja sogar Jahrhunderten haben Entdecker versucht, die wirkliche Quelle des Nils zu finden, der aus dem innersten Afrika nach nahezu 7'000 Kilometern in gypten ins Mittelmeer mndet. Liegt die Quelle des grossartigen Nil am Ufer des Victoriasees? Lange glaubte man dies, bis sie noch viel weiter entfernt entdeckt wurde, jener See hat aber wirklich gewaltige Ausmasse, betrgt doch seine Flche gut eineinhalb Mal jene der Schweiz. Der Weisse Nil fliesst von diesem zweitgrssten Ssswasserbecken der Erde Richtung Norden zum Sudan. Dort vereinigt er sich mit dem Blauen Nil, der seinerseits in thiopien entspringt.
