Gerhard Reichmann erstellt in seiner Untersuchung einen internationalen Leistungsvergleich zwischen 132 Universittsbibliotheken in sterreich, Deutschland, der Schweiz, den USA, Australien und Kanada. Dabei entwickelt er ein Kennzahlensystem, das sich zwar auf bereits vorhandene Kennzahlen sttzt, diese aber immer dann abndert bzw. ersetzt, sobald fr die Berechnung dieser Kennzahlen nicht weitgehend auf bereits dokumentierte bibliothekarische Leistungsdaten zurckgegriffen werden kann. Eine neu generierte Spitzenkennzahl ermglicht einen Gesamtleistungsvergleich zwischen den untersuchten Bibliotheken.
