Im Jahr 2005 sind laut dem Statistischen Bundesamt 30,1 % der Selbststndigen Frauen. Auch in der Betriebswirtschaftslehre und Unternehmerforschung wurden Frauen lange Zeit nicht richtig wahrgenommen. Erst im Zuge des angeblichen Grnderinnenbooms in den 80er Jahren entdeckte man die Existenzgrnderin als neues Forschungsgebiet. Deshalb existieren Gebiete in der BWL, in denen die verschiedenen Geschlechter nicht explizit bercksichtigt werden. So zum Beispiel die traditionellen Unternehmertypologien, mit deren Hilfe versucht wird, die heterogene Masse der Unternehmer in verschiedene Kategorien einzuteilen. Hier wird grundstzlich der Begriff Unternehmer benutzt. Fraglich ist nun, ob die traditionellen Unternehmertypologien die Unternehmerinnen ausgrenzen, oder ob sich Frauen in diese Typologien einordnen lassen. In diesem Fall wrde der Begriff Unternehmer, sowohl Mnner als auch Frauen umfassen. Zur Bearbeitung dieses Themas darf auch die Geschlechterpsychologie nicht ausgeblendet werden.
