Die MiBerfolge diskretionarer stabilitatspolitischer MaBnahmen in den siebziger Jahren fiihrten zu einer verstarkten Orientierung der okonomischen Forschungsaktivitaten an eher klassischen bzw. "neuklassischen" Betrachtungen des gesamtwirtschaftlichen Ko ordinationsmechanismus'. So schwierig und so unberechenbar die Folgen einer aktiven Nachfragepolitik auch se in mogen, die Betrachtung einer standig alle Markte raumen den, womoglich noch paretooptimalen Wirtschaft, scheint mir nicht adaquat zu sein. Selbst wenn eine diskretionare, keynesianische Politik auch baufig zum Scheitern ver urteilt sein wird, bleibt doch das Instrumentarium der keynesianischen Theorie auBerst hilfreich zur Erklarung von Schwankungen der wirtschaftlichen Aktivitat. Zudem geben die neueren Ansatze des Keynesianismus, aufbauend auf der Methodik temporarer Gleichgewicht mit Mengenrationierung, neue Anhaltspunkte fiir die Wirksamkeit wirt schaftspolitischer MaBnahmen in den verschiedenen Regimen. Der Einschatzung "Keynes ist tot" kann somit obschon sie (wortlich genommen) korrekt ist nicht ge folgt werden. Am Zustandekommen einer solchen Arbeit ist im allgemeinen nicht nur der Verfasser beteiligt: GroBen Dank schulde ich zunachst einmal meinen Eltern. Ohne ihre Unterstiitzung ware diese Arbeit natiirlich nicht einmal in Angriff genommen worden. Speziell meiner Mutter und ihrer (typisch miitterlichen) Neigung, meine Fahigkeiten erheblich zu iiber scbatzen, verdanke ich mein (vielleicht zu stark ausgepragtes) SelbstbewuBtsein, mich primar auf meine eigenen Einscbatzungen verlassen zu konnen.
