The principal argument of this book has been conceived following the foreseeable paradigm shift from Renewal to Regeneration in Hong Kong and tries to establish a sustainable bottom up approach to understand the regeneration need of the society from within its own 'production of space'. The theoretical framework was tested through empirical analysis of the infamous 'H15' urban renewal project of Wan Chai, Hong Kong. Eventually, it concluded that an approach based on 'social practice' can be a successful substitute of the already practiced and apparently convenient (by the administration) 'project' and 'scheme' to identify the 'barrier typology' of urban regeneration. Nevertheless, this book reveals that for a community to bring back its life through regeneration requires wider understanding of its 'spatial forms' and associated 'social practice' accumulated over years.
