About the Author Ne Paris en 1909, Simone Weil fut disciple d'Alain, lve de l'cole normale suprieure, agrge de philosophie en 1931. Ouvrire chez Renault (19341935), engage dans les Brigades internationales en 1936, elle quitte la France en 1942 pour New York et, enfin, Londres, o elle travaille dans les bureaux de la France combattante. Atteinte de tuberculose, elle meurt le 24 aot 1943 au Grosvenor Sanatorium.
