Der Ursprung der diffusen interstellaren Banden und des UVBumps bei 217.5 nm beschftigt Astrochemiker inzwischen seit mehr als einem halben Jahrhundert. Eine Aufklrung der urschlichen Bandentrger verspricht entscheidende Erkenntnisse ber die Physik und Chemie der interstellaren Materie. Diese Arbeit befasst sich mit den elektronischen Absorptionseigenschaften groer, auf dem Element Kohlenstoff basierender Molekle, fr deren Vorhandensein im interstellaren Medium (ISM) deutliche Hinweise existieren. Dabei wurden unter Anwendung von Laborexperimenten, die die Bedingungen des ISM simulieren, sowie in Kombination mit theoretischen Vorhersagen polyzyklische aromatische Kohlenwasserstoffe (PAHs) und Diamantoide in neutraler und einfach ionisierter Form nher untersucht. Unter anderem konnte gezeigt werden, dass PAHs fr den Bump in der Extinktionskurve bei 217.5 nm verantwortlich sein knnen, wenn sie im Mittel aus etwa 50 CAtomen bestehen.
