La pudricin carbonosa en caraota (Phaseolus vulgaris L.) es causada por Macrophomina phaseolina, patgeno que cuenta con variada gama de hospedantes, ha sido descrita en ms de 500 especies de plantas y sus estructuras de resistencia le permiten sobrevivir en condiciones adversas durante largo tiempo haciendo poco prctico e ineficiente cualquier mtodo convencional de control. Adems, es una especie muy heterognea y con gran variabilidad en morfologa, fisiologa, patogenicidad y en gentica de sus aislados, llevando a algunos investigadores en estudios recientes basados en tcnicas moleculares a afirmar que existen razas de este hongo, aumentando las limitantes en el mejoramiento y haciendo disminuir ms la efectividad de las prcticas de control, razn por la cual se hace necesario continuar el estudio de este patgeno. El siguiente trabajo pretende determinar la variabilidad de aislados de M. phaseolina obtenidos del cultivo de caraota en el estado Aragua Venezuela y evaluar la efectividad de diferentes tratamientos en el cultivo con Trichoderma harzianum; como alternativa econmica, segura y de menor impacto ambiental para el control del patgeno.
