El presente trabajo pretende establecer las principales caractersticas del recurso solar (irradiacia promedio y variabilidad) en la ciudad de Bogot, sin el empleo de estimaciones, y centrndose principalmente en las aplicaciones fotovoltaicas. Partiendo de los valores registrados en diferentes estaciones meteorolgicas de la zona urbana, se efectu un anlisis estadstico que permiti obtener las series mensuales de radiacin ms representativas del rgimen solar para la ciudad de Bogot. Partiendo de dichos resultados, se evalu la variabilidad de cada fuente. Teniendo en cuenta las diferentes caractersticas de disponibilidad elctrica y hbitos de consumo de los usuarios, se propone el mejor criterio de diseo para sistemas fotovoltaicos interconectados, tomando como ejemplo ciudad de Bogot, Colombia.
