Se realiz un estudio observacional analtico de casos y controles (1x1) en el Hospital Provincial Quirrgico Docente de Camagey desde Marzo de 2003 hasta Septiembre de 2005 a fin de determinar la eficacia de la tcnica X con respecto a otras tcnicas quirrgicas empleadas en el tratamiento del varicocele bilateral. El universo estuvo constituido por 77 pacientes portadores de dicha afeccin, tomndose una muestra definitiva de 70 hombres. La fuente primaria de la informacin estuvo conformada por las historias clnicas ambulatorias y los resultados del espermiograma. Se observ que en ambos grupos prevalecieron los pacientes con edades entre los 25 y 35 aos de la raza blanca y cuyo fundamental motivo de consulta constituy ser la infertilidad. La infeccin de la herida quirrgica, la orquipidermitis unilateral y bilateral fueron las complicaciones que ms se presentaron, afectando en mayor cuanta a los pacientes del Grupo Control. Se evidenci en cuanto al tiempo de reincorporacin de los pacientes a las actividades sociales, que los del Grupo de Casos en su mayora se incorporaron a los siete das , mientras en el Grupo Control solamente 8 pacientes para un 22.86 %.
