Das bewegliche Gelenk des Menschen, die Schulter, bietet bei komplexer Biomechanik eine Vielzahl von Verletzungs und Erkrankungsmoglichkeiten und reagiert mit einer sehr dif fusen und im ersten Anschein gleichfOrmigen Schmerzantwort. Der gro e Bewegungsumfang und die Menge der Weichteilstrukturen erschweren die 'Ermittlung' der Schmerzursachen und stellen hohe Anforderungen an die Kenntnisse des Untersuchers. Basierend auf einer subtilen Differentialdiagnose sind gro e Fortschritte bei der Therapie der verschiedenen Schmerzzustande moglich. Zur Standortbestimmung haben wir das Thema 'Verletzungen der Schulterregion' in den Mittelpunkt des VI. Miinchner InnenstadtSymposiums am 16./17. September 1987 gestellt und gezielt nur kompetente 'SchulterChirurgen' eingeladen, die slimtlich der Einladung gefolgt waren. Urn den vorliegenden Kongre band moglichst informativ zu gestalten, wurden die Themen 'kapitelweise' vorgetragen und die einzelnen Krankheits bilder zusammengefa t abgehandelt. So entstand nicht nur ein Vortragsband, sondern vielmehr eine aktuelle Orientierungshilfe bei der Diagnostik und Behandlung der Schulter verletzung. Neben einem theoretischen Einftihrungskapitel wurde der klinischen und apparativen Diagnostik ein breiter Platz eingeriiumt. Das sog. Impingementsyndrom als fest definiertes Erkrankungsbild erfahrt seine differentialdiag.'1ostische Abgrenzung. Die verschiedenen Techniken der Rotatorenmanschettenruptur werden beschrieben. Diagnostikund Therapie ansatz der Schulterinstabilitat sowie die verschiedenen operativen Verfahren sind wichtige Beitriige im Kapitel der Schulterluxationen. Die Traumatologie des Schultergtirtels kommt am Beispiel Klavikula, ACGelenk, Skapula und Humeruskopf ebenso zur Darstellung wie die Prothetik des Schultergelenks. Das Kapitel Physiotherapie bedeutet nicht nur einen Anhang, sondern bietet eine gute Obersicht tiber die Referate. Wir danken allen Autoren ftiT ihre Beitrage, die konstruktive Mitarbeit und die ztigige Bearbeitung der Manuskripte.
