Eine Beantwortung dieser Fragen fllt angesichts der bestehenden Forschungslage schwer. Denn Politik und Kommunikationswissenschaft haben sich dem Thema bislang kaum gewidmet. Ziel der vorliegenden Arbeit ist es daher, einen ersten Schritt zur Schlieung dieser Forschungslcke zu unternehmen und die Instrumente und Ergebnisse der Verstndlichkeitsforschung fr Politik und Kommunikationswissenschaft zugnglich zu machen. Im Rahmen zweier Experimente werden das Verstehen und die Verstndlichkeit gesprochener und geschriebener Politikersprache analysiert, unter anderem in Reden und Interviews sowie auf Webseiten der Bundesregierung. Auf dieser Grundlage entwickelt der Autor einen Komplexittsindex fr Politikersprache. Dieser ermglicht es, deutlich spezifischere Aussagen ber die Textschwierigkeit politischer Botschaften zu treffen als bisherige Messinstrumente.
