Sein Transzendenzbegriff ist aus seiner Interkulturalitt zu verstehen. Im Vordergrund der biblischen Bezge steht die Thematik des leidenden Gerechten, auf die in doppelter Weise Bezug genommen wird: 1. durch den Verweis auf den alttestamentlichen Hiob, 2. durch die messianische Dimension der MenuchimFigur, deren Urgrund bei den Klageliedern und Psalmen, bei den Liedern vom Gottesknecht sowie bei den Evangelien des Neuen Testaments zu suchen ist. Durch die Analyse der alttestamentlichen Bezge wird gezeigt, dass Menuchim Zge eines jdischen Messias trgt. Durch Ermittlung der neutestamentlichen Bezge wird zugleich gezeigt, dass Menuchim Messias im christlichen Sinne ist. Das Ergebnis der Untersuchung ist, dass Menuchim als eine Art Synthese aus jdischen und christlichen Messiasvorstellungen gedeutet werden kann zumal unter Bercksichtigung der Biographie Joseph Roths.
