Drawing from the most uptodate research and emerging issues, Victimology: A Comprehensive Approach is an accessible text that provides readers with an overview of the causes and consequences of victimization and the responses to those causes. Renowned authors and researchers Leah E. Daigle and Lisa R. Muftic use a consistent framework throughout to help readers understand why people are victimized, as well as how the criminal justice system and other social services interact with victims and each other. The focus on causes, and responses equips readers with the foundational knowledge needed to apply key concepts to reallife situations. Emphasizing the impact of trauma on individuals and opportunities for prevention, this supportive text offers incisive discussions of recurring victimization and the victimoffender overlap with a global focus. The streamlined Second Edition explores emerging topics within this growing field, including immigration and victimization, bullying, homicides and sexual assaults involving LGBTQ persons, school shootings, and more.

I bought this book for my criminology class, and it really dives deep into the subject matter. The comprehensive approach provides a lot of valuable insights into victimology. It’s well-written and organized, making it easy to follow along. Definitely a solid resource for anyone studying this field!

Informative, but a Bit Dense
This book covers a lot of ground, but sometimes it feels a bit too detailed for casual readers. As a graduate student, I appreciate the depth, but it can be overwhelming at times. Still, it’s a crucial addition to my library for research and projects.

Great Resource for Practitioners
As a social worker, I found this book to be an excellent resource for understanding victim perspectives. The comprehensive approach is really helpful in my work. It’s packed with research and case studies that I can apply practically. Would buy again!

Not What I Expected
I thought this book would be more practical in approach, but it’s very academic and theoretical. There are some great case studies, but I was hoping for more real-world applications. It’s not bad, just not what I was looking for.
