Esta Vida de Cristo est considerada una de las ms completas y atrayentes biografas sobre Jesucristo. Publicada por primera vez en 1941, tiene todos los ingredientes que garantizan la vigencia de un libro: la autenticidad del relato, una rica claridad expositiva, el profundo conocimiento del marco histrico y, ante todo, la emocin con que recrea personajes y situaciones. La intencin del autor sigue teniendo plena validez: si los cristianos quieren restaurar una sociedad fundada en la doctrina de Cristo, no pueden menos que estudiar y vivir el espritu de Cristo. Espero que esta obra les ayudar a cumplir con esa obligacin, para renovarse a s mismos y renovar a los dems. Fray Justo Prez de Urbel Santiago naci en Pedrosa del ro Urbel en 1895. Ingres pronto, en 1907, en el monasterio de Santo Domingo de Silos, profes en 1912 y fue ordenado en 1918. En 1925 inici la produccin de libros de Hagiografa, Historia, Liturgia y Arte. Doctor en Filosofa e Historia en 1948, gan dos aos despus la ctedra de Historia de Espaa medieval. En 1958, fue nombrado primer abad de la Abada del Valle de los Cados, renunciando en 1966 por motivos de salud. Falleci en 1979. Su obra literaria es muy copiosa: 71 libros y ms de 700 artculos, reseas, traducciones, etc. Se pueden destacar entre sus obras histricas: El conde Fernn Gonzlez; Historia del Condado de Castilla; Sancho el Mayor; y entre sus ttulos de tema hagiogrfico y litrgico, adems de esta Vida de Cristo, que es su libro ms destacado: El ao cristiano, y San Pablo, apstol de las gentes.
