Product Description Pritika Chowdhry Is Curating A Series Of Exhibits As Part Of The Transdiaspora Project. Pritika Has Structured A Rigorous Definition For The Term Transdiaspora And Has Constructed A Curatorial Framework Titled 'Transdiasporic Art Practices'. These Theoretical Formulations Have Become The Catalyst For A Series Of Exhibits And Related Publications That Employ Innovative Formats To Bring Artists, Scholars And Activists Together From Minority Communities As Well As From Majoritarian Populations. The 2007 Transdiaspora Exhibit Titled 'Visceral Mappings: Transdiasporic Art Practices,' Positions The Intimate Geography Of The Body As A Metaphor For Displacement And The Domestic Geography Of The Home As A Metaphor For The Nation. The Exhibit Brings Together 35 Artists Of African, Jewish, Native, Chicana, Italian, Egyptian, Taiwanese, Indonesian, Indian, Greek And Korean Diasporic Origins As Well As American Artists Of Nontraditional Diasporic Locations Such As The Lgbtq Community. This Exhibit Is Conceived As A Nontraditional, Sitespecific Installation That Creates An Immersive Domestic Environment. The 'Visceral Mappings' Exhibit Previewed For Three Days In The Pyle Center In Madison, Wisconsin. An Expanded Version Of The Visceral Mappings Exhibit Was On View At The Dellora Norris Cultural Arts Center, In St. Charles, Illinois, From June 14 July 14, 2007. This First Edition Of The Catalog Is Based On The Installation Images Of The 'Visceral Mappings' Exhibit From The First Venue In The Pyle Center. A Second Edition Of This Catalog Based On The Installation Images Of The 'Visceral Mappings' Exhibit From The Dellora Norris Center Will Be Published Shortly.
