Kapitel lernt Marcus die Freigelassene Afra bei der Arbeit in der Taverne ihres Vaters kennen, am Ende des Buches haben sie feste Heiratsplne allerdings muss Marcus erst noch seine Berufsausbildung im fernen Germanien abschlieen. Bezge zur heutigen Lebenswirklichkeit der Jugendlichen und zu heutigen gesellschaftlichen Phnomenen knnen hufig hergestellt werden. Im Sinne einer ganzheitlichen gemeinsamen Erschlieung der lateinischen Sprache und ihres sozialgeschichtlichen Kontextes sind die Lektionen so gestaltet, dass alle Sachtexte und Informationen zu Geschichte, zu kulturellen, sozialen und politischen Verhltnissen des alten Roms an die Handlung der jeweiligen Lektion anknpfen, sie erlutern, illustrieren und systematisieren (wie z.B. Freie Freigelassene Sklaven, Schule in Rom, Zirkusspiele, Essen, Heirat, Rolle der Frau, Regierung...). So erweitert sich mit dem Fortgang der Erzhlung von Baustein zu Baustein der Einblick der Schlerinnen und Schler in die antike Welt. Die Grammatik wird so und in dem Umfang vermittelt, dass die dienende und helfende Funktion dieses Lernbereichs fr das Verstehen der Texte deutlich wird, nicht aber umgekehrt Inhalte missbraucht werden, um grammatische Phnomene einzuschleifen. Vita Agenda beginnt bewusst mit einer immanenten Wiederholung von Teilen der deutschen Grammatik. Die einzelnen Lektionen sind offen fr verschiedene Texterschlieungsmethoden, eignen sich aber besonders fr das Verstehende Lesen'. Die Anzahl der Lernvokabeln (437) ist sehr schmal gehalten, so dass whrend der Spracherwerbsphase das 'Vokabelpauken' nicht allzu sehr im Vordergrund steht.
