Precisa los aportes de la extensin universitaria a la innovacin tecnolgica desde la universidad. La necesidad de lograr la pertinencia universitaria y el vnculo eficaz con la sociedad es legtima. Debe evaluarse en funcin de la adecuacin entre lo que la sociedad espera de las universidades y lo que estas hacen. Ello requiere normas ticas, imparcialidad poltica, capacidad crtica y mejor articulacin con los problemas de la sociedad y el mundo del trabajo. Debemos fundar las estrategias a largo plazo en los ms urgentes objetivos y necesidades sociales, teniendo muy en cuenta el respeto de las culturas y la proteccin del medio ambiente. Los acadmicos cubanos adoptan esta poltica porque centra la misin universitaria en la pertinencia social, presta atencin al enfoque universidadsociedad y enfoca su visin a corto y a largo plazo.
