Son analizadas las propiedades del macizo rocoso que influyen en la determinacin de la carga especfica as como en el desempeo de los trabajos de excavacin por explosivos. Se discute la influencia del dimetro de taladro en la determinacin de parmetros de diseo. Finalmente se muestra los principales aspectos ambientales resultantes de la voladura de rocas, para despus proponer una metodologa para su gerenciamiento, visando su optimizacin. Esta metodologa est basada en el ciclo PDCA para gestin de procesos y operaciones en programas de mejora continua.
