Insbesondere glaubte man, im Megaron des mykenischen Palastes und den Lang bzw. Antenhusern der protogeometrischen und geometrischen Zeit einen baulichen Vorlufer fr die langgestrecktrechteckige Form der Cella des sich seit der 1. Hlfte des 7. Jhs. im griechischen Kulturraum weitrumig verbreitenden Ringhallentempels gefunden zu haben. Als der Versuch einer morphologischen Herleitung des Ringhallentempels vor der unkanonischen, berraschenden Vielgestaltigkeit der frhen Baukunst kapitulieren musste und gleichzeitig der Vergleich der funktionalen und liturgischen Eigenschaften geometrischer Kultbauten mit denen der Peripteroi tiefgreifende Unterschiede zu Tage gefrdert hatte, begann man, nach den sozialgeschichtlichen Ursachen zu fragen, die im bergang von der geometrischen zur archaischen Epoche einen Wandel in der Kultpraxis bewirkt und damit gnzlich neuartige, diesen gewandelten Bedrfnissen strukturell entsprechende Sakralbauten notwendig gemacht hatten. Die vorliegende Arbeit macht es sich zur Aufgabe, die Befundlage unter morphologischen Gesichtspunkten zu ordnen und die architektonischen Strukturmerkmale der frhen Kultbauten hinsichtlich ihrer bertragbarkeit auf den kanonischen Ringhallentempel zu untersuchen.
