Dieses Buch geht der frhen Entwicklung des Husserlschen Denkens im Hinblick auf die systematischen Motive nach, die zur Entstehung der Phnomenologie fhrten. Herausgearbeitet wird, wie und warum sich Husserls anfnglich mathematisches Forschungsinteresse spter auf ein rein logisches Terrain verlagert. Dieser konsequenten thematischen Weiterentwicklung luft die wegweisende methodische Neuorientierung zur Phnomenologie parallel. Gezeigt wird, wie es Husserls Begrndungsabsichten fr die Formalwissenschaften Mathematik und Logik erforderlich machen, da er die zunchst von seinen Lehrern Brentano und Stumpf bernommene Methode der deskriptiven Psychologie zur Phnomenologie weiterentwickelt. Ferner wird die systematische Leistungsfhigkeit dieser neuen erkenntnistheoretischen Methode zur Begrndung der Formalwissenschaften kritisch berprft. So wird durch die Analyse der bisher wenig untersuchten Husserlschen Frhphilosophie ein neues Verstndnis des Ursprungs der phnomenologischen Philosophie gewonnen.
