Besonders aufschlussreich fur Hothos Wissenschaftsverstandnis ist die hier edierte Asthetikvorlesung, die er 1833, parallel zu seiner Arbeit an der Edition der Hegel'schen Asthetik, gehalten hat. Er entwirft hier in Anlehnung an Hegel, aber starker dialektisch argumentierend als dieser, den Aufbau der Kunstwissenschaft. Der vorliegende Band ediert die Asthetikvorlesung Hothos in der ausfuhrlichen Mitschrift von Hegels Sohn Immanuel, dessen Kommentare in Marginalien wiedergegeben sind.
