Author, journalist, and explorer David Burke was smitten with Antarctica on his first visit in 1958. Fortythree years later he made his sixth trip south aboard a 12,000 ton Russian icebreaker, Kapitan Khlebnikov. The captain and crew's objective was to go farther south than any ship had sailed before.
