Das Buch leistet einen Beitrag zum Verstndnis der zentralen Begriffe in gesellschaftlichen bergangsprozessen und whlt zwei spezifische Kontexte: Wahrheit, Recht und Vershnung in Sdafrika und Deutschland. Es werden die Vortrge einer Tagung der Evangelischen Akademie von BerlinBrandenburg dokumentiert, die in internationaler Besetzung vom 29.31.8.1997 in BerlinWannsee stattfand. Zu den Beitragenden gehrten u.a. Wolfgang Huber (Bischof der Evangelischen Kirche von BerlinBrandenburg), Ruben Richards (Exekutivsekretr der Wahrheits und Vershnungskommission), Christoph Schaefgen (Generalstaatsanwalt beim Landgericht Berlin) und Ehrhart Neubert (Fachbereichsleiter der Abteilung Bildung und Forschung bei der GauckBehrde). Neben der juristischen und politologischen Betrachtung der gesellschaftlichen Dimension der Vershnung kommt in den Beitrgen vor allem der theologischen Perspektive eine Bedeutung zu. Wie verhlt sich das politische Konzept der Vershnung zu seinem theologischen Anspruch? Mu auf das Recht verzichtet werden, wo es um Vershnung geht? Kann allein auf die Wahrheit gesetzt werden, wo ein Land seine Vergangenheit bewltigt? Das neue Sdafrika und das wiedervereinigte Deutschland sind besonders interessante Kontexte, in denen die theologisch wie politisch befrachteten Begriffe Wahrheit, Recht und Vershnung diskutiert werden.
