Sie widmet sich den ueren und inneren Umstnden der Entstehung des belgischen Staates in den 1830er Jahren. Dafr sollen zunchst die auf dem Wiener Kongress zwischen den europischen Gromchten vereinbarte Ordnung des Alten Kontinents im Allgemeinen und das dort protegierte Vereinigte Knigreich der Niederlande im Besonderen beleuchtet werden. Das Scheitern jener Vereinigten Niederlande, die Belgische Revolution von 1830 und das Eingreifen der Wiener Mchte zugunsten eines selbststndigen Staates Belgien' stellen dann den Kern der Untersuchung dar. Abschlieend soll die Leitfrage: Warum gibt es Belgien? prziser: Was sind die ueren und inneren Umstnde der Entstehung eines belgischen Staates? beantwortet sowie begrndete Vermutungen bezglich des oben formulierten Fragenkataloges aufgestellt werden. Um bei jenen weiterfhrenden Fragen zu belastbaren Thesen zu gelangen, bieten sich als Gegenstnde anschlieender Untersuchungen weitere wichtige Zsuren der belgischen Geschichte (wie die Weltkriege, die Fderalisierung seit den 1970er Jahren oder die erwhnte und bis dato nicht wirklich abgeschlossene Staatskrise 2007/08) an.
