Im Vordergrund der Analyse stehen dabei deutschsprachige Weblogs, die sich kritisch mit Strukturen und Inhalten der 'MainstreamMedien' auseinandersetzen. Am Beispiel der Anfang August 2006 von BlogAutoren aufgedeckten Manipulation von Pressefotos der Nachrichtenagentur Reuters kann die Wirkungsweise medienkritischer 'Watchblogs' demonstriert und die von diesen Weblogs angestoene Debatte einer wissenschaftlichen Analyse unterzogen werden. Die zentrale Forschungshypothese der Arbeit lautet: 'Weblogs ermglichen neue Formen partizipativer Medienkritik und lassen durch Vernetzung innerhalb der Blogosphre diskursive Teilffentlichkeiten entstehen.'
