Zumindest implizit geht sie davon aus, dass die (meisten der) von ihr ermittelten Ungleichheiten als sozial problematisch, mithin vernderungsbedrftig gelten mssen. Diese Annahme ist aber nicht selbstverstndlich; zum einen, weil sie auf normativen Prmissen beruht, die nicht nur meist unausgewiesen bleiben, sondern mit empirischanalytischen Forschungsmethoden auch gar nicht ausweisbar sind; zum anderen, weil bereits ein flchtiger Blick in die einschlgige normative Theoriebildung zeigt, dass die Frage, welche Gleichheiten (vorrangig) anzustreben und welche Ungleichheiten (vorrangig) zu beseitigen sind, hoch umstritten ist. Es gibt nicht die Gleichheit oder die Ungleichheit, sondern es gibt ganz unterschiedliche Gleichheits und Ungleichheitsdimensionen, und zwischen diesen Dimensionen bestehen nicht nur zahlreiche Querverbindungen, sondern oft genug auch Zielkonflikte, so dass mehr Gleichheit in einer Hinsicht notwendig mehr Ungleichheit in einer anderen Hinsicht bedeuten wrde.
