Wasser ist aber nicht nur durch das Staunen und die Interessen der Kinder, sondern auch als wertvolle Ressource fr eine nachhaltige Entwicklung der Weltbevlkerung und ihrer natrlichen Umwelt als Unterrichtsgegenstand in der Grundschule von Bedeutung. In einer nachhaltigen Entwicklung werden Bedrfnisse heutiger Generationen befriedigt (...), ohne die Bedrfnisbefriedigung kommender Generationen zu gefhrden" (BOLSCHO; HAUENSCHILD, 2009: 32). kologische, konomische, soziale und kulturelle Faktoren sind dabei direkt miteinander vernetzt. Im Rahmen der Konferenz der Vereinten Nationen fr Umwelt und Entwicklung in Rio de Janeiro im Juni 1992 verpflichteten sich fast 180 Nationen dazu, Nachhaltigkeit als Leitlinie fr die Entwicklung der Gesellschaft auf internationaler, nationaler und lokaler Ebene zu nutzen. Gleichberechtigung und Wohlstand fr alle Menschen sowie die Sicherstellung des berdauerns des Lebens auf der Erde und somit die Erhaltung der Lebensgrundlage der Menschen sind Ziele einer nachhaltigen Entwicklung. Bildung ist gleichermaen in Form des Rechts aller Menschen auf Bildung eines der Ziele einer nachhaltigen Entwicklung sowie ein Instrument, um Kompetenzen zu vermitteln, die fr die Erreichung dieser Ziele notwendig sind.
